Module objectives

• Choose representations appropriate to structural, behavioral, and semantic design questions.
• Implement or evaluate automated pattern/smell detection.
• Formulate refactoring as search, optimization, recommendation, or constrained transformation.
• Evaluate AI-assisted approaches with baselines, error analysis, reproducibility, and threats to validity.

Working method

For each concept, move between code, design structure, change scenarios, and evidence. Avoid pattern-name matching without explaining the underlying design problem.
